The Emirate understands that the creation of a successful R&D environment demands a mix of public-sector and private-sector investment, and that government funding is needed to lead the way. Working with academia, industry and government, focused efforts are being enabled to:

• Building the physical R&D infrastructure with emphasis on Technology Innovation Centres (TICs)
• Enhancing capacity, quality and coordination of research in areas of priority
• Supporting and attracting businesses to develop Applied/Translational research in Abu Dhabi and encouraging innovation amongst enterprises
